GANLEY or GANLY - Gantley or Gantly

Ganley or Ganly - While the divergence of these names are centuries old in Ireland, the variation is as new as the last family splitting argument, the relocation of a family branch to a new land and a new beginning, or a clerical error on a document. When researching your family's roots keep an open mind about the presence or absence of the 'e' in your familey name. ...or for that matter, the presence or absence of the 't' from the names of our more distant genealogical cousins, the Gantley's. I is interesting to note that the Ellis Island records show the conversion on Gandley to Ganley! Good luck in finding lost and distant relatives.
