Lemuel Gammons was born 1773 in Middleborough, Ma. and d. 12/19/1860 at Westport, Ma. He m. Rachel Ellis dau. of Matthias Ellis and Rachel Tupper. She was b. July 27, 1772 in Sandwich, Ma. and d. 12/17/1853 in Middleborough, Ma. at age 80.
Lemuel died at Westport probably at the home of his son Matthias Ellis Gammons. He was age 87 at the time of his death which was 19 May 1866. The Ellis Family is written up in Vol. 21, page 40 of NEHGR. The given names of the children are Hannah*m Samuel*, Joshua*, Rachel* The childen marked with asterick "died probably" during the smallpox epidemic of 1775., Graves are noted for all except Rachel. It is my contention that Rachel did not die. Both families live in Middleborough, Ma. Richard Gammons Rouse, gam27@earthlink.net. I have put together a book of 92 pages of notes regarding this family.You can add two other children: Calvin Mitchel Gammons and Hannah Cole Gammons to this family. Hope all this helps
