Elmer 'Good' Gammon, 91, of Bailey Lane, Greeneville
Greene Co TN, passed away Sunday morning, November 15,
2009, at his residence.
Mr. Gammon attended Brittontown Church for many years and
in later years attended Union Free Will Baptist Church. He
was a farmer.
He was born Saturday, August 24, 1918, Greene Co TN, the
son of the late William Richard and Cordie Jane Holland
Gammon, and was preceded in death by one sister, Julia
Smith; eleven brothers, Charles Gammon, Frank Gammon,
Jessie Gammon, George Gammon, Allen Gammon, Omer Gammon,
Doss Gammon, Oscar Gammon, Edgar Gammon (his twin), Henry
Gammon, and Lowell Gammon; and a special nephew, Jeffrey
Morrison.
He is survived by his wife, Mable Shaffer Gammon; son and
daughter-in-law, Troy and Joyce Gammon of Jefferson City,
TN; two daughters and one son-in-law, Judy and Steve
Alsup, and Janice Johnson of Greeneville, TN; grand-
children, April Alsup, Susan Hipsher and husband Keith,
Lynne Griffin and husband Bert, all of Greeneville, TN,
and Amy Johnson of Morristown, TN; great grandchildren,
McKenzie Wagner, Brooklyn Hipsher, Chelsea Gunter, Dustin
Newton, Amanda Newton, and Kristy Newton; a great-great
granddaughter, Brooklyn Johnson; a sister, Irene Morrison
of Greeneville, TN; a brother, Perry 'Cotton' Gammon of
Greeneville, TN; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Gammon of
Greeneville, TN, and Dorothy Olson of Dandridge, TN; and
three brothers-in-law, Hal Shaffer of White Pine, TN,
William Olson of Dandridge, TN, and Gomer Shaffer of
Atlanta, GA.
The family to receive friends from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m., and
6 p.m. - 8 p.m., Tuesday, at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home
preceding the funeral service.
Funeral services scheduled for 8 p.m., Tuesday, November
17, 2009, at Kiser-Rose Hill Chapel.
Interment scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November
18, 2009, at Hardin’s Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Gary Gass and
Rev. Troy Gammon to officiate. Pallbearers to be family
and friends. Family and friends to meet at 9:30 a.m.,
Wednesday, at the funeral home to go in procession to the
cemetery.
