Gammills in 1850 Pickens Co. AL census
1850 Pickens County, AL Census shows:
Gammill,
Elizabeth, 36 NC(nee Morgan)
Mary Emmeline, 16 SC [md Wm Morris Taylor]
Daniella, 13 AL
Elmira Jane, 11 AL [md James Rhodes]
Henry, 9 AL
Rebecca A. E., 4 AL [md 1)Wm Massey & 2)Wm Augustus Powell]
Next door is another widow?
Gammill,
Mary A., 38 SC
Nancy, 33 SC
George, 12 AL
And not far away is the widow of William Gammill,
Jane, 55 SC
In earlier Censuses, there had been a Rbt, Thomas J., and Wm Gammill, but they were not shown in 1850.Rbt died in 1842 [and John Love was appointed guardian of his minor children]; Wm died about 1847; Thomas J. status is unkown.
Can anyone help me identify these Gammills? My line goes through both Mary Emmeline and Elmira Jane.
Also have heard of a Gammill book.Anyone know of any for sale or if there may be a reprint?
Jim
