Carol, I'm researching the Gamble family -- Patrick Kinchen Gamble specifically. He was born in 1794 in NC but by 1814 was in Tenn where he enlisted in military (War of 1812).He later settled in Alabama where in died in 1885, having fathered 16 children with wife Frances "Fanny" Truss Gamble whom he married in 1820, St. Clair AL.It seems he told lots of stories suggesting he was an orphan and no one has been able to determine his ancestry. He was my gggrandfather.A couple of years ago another researcher of Patrick had a theory that he may be the son of James Gimmell and his 2nd wife Lucretia. That researcher told me that James died the year Patrick was born, indicating an unborn chid in his will along with his other 7 children by first wife, Margaret Miller.Do you have a copy of this will or any knowledge of it?
