Hello Bob,
Here is what I know about Hugh;
(I'm shooting from the hip here, because I'm at work, and have to rely on my memory.Lot's of luck with that!)
He was born Jun 5 1795somewhere in Virginia
In the 1810 Census, I believe him to be in the household of Ann Gambrill in Wood County VA (now WV).
He is one of 4 brothers - Edward, John, and Travis are the others.
In 1811 They all appear to move to Hamilton Co OH
In 1826Hugh married Sarah Crain/Crane.
{There are reconstructed records that list Hugh's bride as Sarah Brown.I believe that to be in error.Your Mary Gambrel Low's death certificate stated that her mother was Sarah Crane (or Crain, I don't remember which spelling).James C Gambrel on a marriage application in Nebraska lists his mother as Sarah Crain (or Crane, whichever).}
1845Hugh and Sarah's daughter Elizabeth dies, and is buried next to the Ebenezer Crain family plot. {More evidence of the Crain surname for Sarah}
1848H Gambull is listed on a Land Plat map for Hamilton Co.
1849Hugh and Sarah join the Dunlapsville Presbyterian Church in Union County Indiana.
1853 (or was it 1855) Hugh and his son John are charter members of the Greenfield Presbyterian Church in Greenfield, Hancock Co IN
1860s (maybe 1861 or 1864)Mary and Hannah Gambrel marry Willard and Uriah Low (respectively) on the same day.
1867Sarah died
1867Hugh married Ann Reed in Shelby Co IN
1877Hugh died
Hugh and Sarah are buried in the Little Sugar Creek Cemetery (also called the Gambrel-Low Cemetery) located between Greenfield and New Palestine IN.
I don't have details about their children right off the top of my head.
