David Gamble married Mary McKillip/McCaleb about 1775, either in Pennsylvania or in Guilford/Stokes Co., North Carolina. Mary was the daughter of Hugh McKillip b. abt. 1725/1730 near the Pennsylvania/Delaware border or in Northern Ireland, d. bet.Apr. 6, 1802, and June 1802, on Belews Creek, Stokes Co., North Carolina.
David and Mary KcKillip Gamble moved to what what was then Washington Co., North Carolina, now Tennessee, about 1780. Mary's brother Archibald McKillip/McCaleb and John Blair, who was married to Jean/Jane Gamble also moved to Washington Co. about the same time.
In the 1794 November Term of the Greene Co., Tennessee, Court, Archibald McCaleb was appointed guardian for Jane, Mary & Elizabeth Gamble, orphans of David Gamble. (Greene Co., Tennessee,Guardian Records 1783-1870, page 360.) In the February 1795 term of court, John Blair was appointed guardian of Hugh Gamble, presumably the son of David Gamble and Mary McKillip.
