I may be off base here but then there may be a connection. My wife is from Cambridgeshire England. Her maiden name was Doggett. Alfred Asher Prior Doggett is her Grand Uncle. Alfred married Eliza Gammage in 1881. I just researched Eliza back to her parents. Her father was George Gammage, in the 1851 census he was a journeyman brick layer, in the 1861 census he was a Building Forman, and in the 1881 census he was a surveyor. His wife's was Eliza. In the 1861 census they were living in Lambeth, London. In 1861 census they had 5 children in the household, George 14, Julia 11, Thomas 9, Alfred 5, and Eliza 1. In 1841 census George was living at home with his parents, John and Martha Gammage.
