The James Gallion of Holmes Co., Ohio ca. 1850 has been difficult to "connect" back in to the Gallion lineages. I have for years suspected he might be the same James William Gallion who married Margaret Troutman ca. 1834 in Pa. and who moved to the Hagerstown area of Maryland ca. 1835. This Hagerstown James Gallion abandoned his family ca. 1839 never to have been heard of again. It is possible that the Holmes Co., Ohio James and the Hagerstown James Gallion are one and the same. Who then are James William's parents. It is not possible to be sure. However, my best guess is that James William is a grandson to the widow Elizabeth Presbury Gallion of the 1776 Harford Co., MD census through her son James. Elizabeth's husband was John. Elizabeth and John lived on or near the southern shore of Swan Creek where it empties into Chesapeake Bay on a property called "Smith's Folly Resurveyed". They were quite prosperous and Elizabeth owned a number of slaves in the 1776 and later censi. For more info contact me directly.
