If you are referring to a John Galt who was an novelist in England and/or Scotland about 1800, he had two sons that I know of: Sir Alexander Tilloch Galt and Thomas Galt. The family came to Canada about 1828, and became leaders in the early years of Toronto. If this is the John Galt you refer to I can point you to more information.
