Upon further investigation, it appears that it is more likely that Elizabeth, wife of Joseph Galpin of Rye, may have been Elizabeth Applebee Applebe, or Appleby, the daughter of Thomas Applebee and Elizabeth Osborn.
Here are some details worth consideration:
Thomas Applebe and his wife, Elizabeth came to Rye from Gravesend, Long Island, with Edward Griffen after selling their property there to Charles Morgan. (John Galpin, son of Philip and brother to Joseph married Mary Morgan) Elizabeth Osborn Applebe was a Quaker and was affiliated with Lady Moody. Thomas Applebe was a member of the Rye Training Board and Connecticut Militia at Rye, and like the Galpins, considered themselves Connecticut men. Thomas Applebe had a close friendship with
Philip Galpin, father of Joseph, and also with Joseph's brother, Benjamin Galpin with whom he eventually settled at Woodbury, CT.
Thomas Applebee and Elizabeth Osborn had two children: Joseph Applebee and Elizabeth Applebee. Joseph Galpin and his wife Elizabeth also had two children, whose names were Joseph and Elizabeth.
In any case, this seems to be something worth further investigation by those interested in this line of the Galpin family. Joseph and Elizabeth Galpin of Rye were ancestors of many persons surnamed Silliker and Strang in the Maritime Provinces.
