Constant GALMICHE Haute-Saône, FRA>CT US
Researching genealogy of Constant-Barnabe GALMICHE, b abt 1846, prob near Mélisey, Haute-Saône, France, and his wife Sophie HOUILLON, b abt 1846, France. They emigrated to Connecticut, USA, and died sometome before 1918. May be buried in Montville, New London County, CT.
Constant was a farmer in Montessaux, FRA, and in the charcoal business in CT, along the Salmon River.
Their children:
Marie Augustine Alexandrine, known as "Gustine" or "Christy," b 9 Jun 1874, Montessaux, Mélisey, Haute-Saône, FRA; d 5 Jan 1972, Middletown, Middlesex Co., CT; m Eugene Jacques "Gene" MARTIN on 22 Dec 1888 in Colchester, New London Co., CT;
Emil or Emilie, b abt 1875, prob Haute-Saône, FRA;
Felicie "Ella," b abt 1877, prob Haute-Saône, FRA; d bef Sep 1963; m David "Dave" EVANS;
Augustine Marie (?) "Mary," b 22 Jun 1877, prob Haute-Saône, FRA; d 28 Sep 1963, Manchester, Hartford Co., CT; m Ludwig "Louis" LEINING;
Anne (?) "Annie," b prob Haute-Saône, FRA; d bef 1925; m Harry FRASER, then ——HOPPE;
Philomene "Tessie," b abt 1880, prob Haute-Saône, FRA; d aft Jun 1971; m Lee W. ARMS;
Louis, b unknown, lived in Rhode Island.
Sophie emigrated from the port of Le Havre, France, with Auguste GALMICHE, male, 30 [b abt 1852], and her children Emilie, Felicie, and Philomene, on the ship The France; arrived in NYC on 21 Sep 1882.
Any information on this family's descendants or ancestry is appreciated; we would especially like to know who Auguste is (a brother or cousin of Constant?) and why Sophie travelled with only some of her children, not in birth order. There is also a dispute; ship's records clearly indicate Emilie, 7 in 1882, was a girl, but the familyinsists this should be Emil, a boy.
Thanks very much!
