I might be able to help you on your questions. My mother-in-law is a Gallup and my wife Samantha and I have done a lot of work on the Gallup, Gallap and Gallop's in Michigan. Her family came to Michigan and ended up in Livingston Co. after living in Jackson Co. and Washtenaw Co. Some of that extended Jackson Co. family went to Lenawee, Hillsdale and branch Counties as well. While I have not tied everyone to the bigger family tree I have collected some information on the family you are talking about and have been to their graves a couple of times.

I know the lines are different, but my records show that these families travled with one another all over Michigan.
