Galvin/Gallivan
My grandmother's maiden name was Galvin. We knew her as Nora Galvin Gallagher, but she was actually born with the first name "Honora" in Ireland in 1869.I went on the Irish church records Web site and found her birth name was actually "Gallivan."I know it's her, because the birthdate, father's and mother's names, sponsors' names and parish location all match the information I already had.Has anyone else run into confusion in the Gallivan name with Galvin?Could it be an "Ellis Island" mix-up, perhaps abetted by a young person whose reading and writing skills may not have been up to par?
