Gallion Family Genealogy Forum

This Gilbert Gallion was in the 1776 Harford Co., Maryland census as a member of his parent's (James and Ruth Gilbert Gallion) household. Gilbert next shows in the 1800 Franklin Co., Pa census with a young male and a young female in his household (but no wife-probably deceased). Gilbert next shows in the 1810, 1820, and 1830 Harrison Co., VA (now West VA.) censi. Gilbert was in the Harford Co. militia during the Revolutionary war and did apply for a pension in 1832 while residing in Harrison Co., VA. The pension was denied due to lack of verification records. The claim is interesting in content. Gilbert claims to have been at Valley Forge and was a member of a "flying squad" charged with defending critical spots such as river crossings, etc. He even claims to have been posted up to the West Point area and Newburgh, NY (just to the north of West Point). From his descriptions I tend to believe him.
I am not sure who Gilbert's wives were (he appears to have had two) nor who his children are. I have guessed his children to be Thomas (b. ca. 1786), James (b.'1802), and Samuel (b.'1810). But these are guesses. Perhaps you can enlighten me. I would be delighted.
Gilbert's pension application is available from the National Archives.
