Stephen has always been a bit of a mystery. There are two Gallion families in the 1820 Ky census; Elijah and Thomas. We can be sure your Stephen is not of Thomas. However, he is not of Elijah either unless he is a grandson. By 1830 Elijah is in Indiana with two of the four sons that he had in the 1820 Ky census. One of those sons is named William A. So it is possible that Elijah's oldest son (16-18) of the 1820 KY census married, had a son named Stephen in 1826, and then died before the 1830 census or moved to an unknown location.

In th 1830 KY census there is only one possible candidate and that is a John Gallion of 1830 Simpson Co., KY. John is a bit of an enigma...He shows this one and is not known in any prior or subsequent census. He did have 4 sons below the age of 10 as indicated in the 1830 census listing. So he is a candidate.
