George, wanted to see if you have ever came acoss Stephen GALION in the 1850 Iowa census in Des Moines County, Augusta Township. It shows the following: Stephen Galion, age 24, farmer, b. Kentucky Amanda Galion, age 20, wife, b. Ohio Joseph Galion, age 1, born Iowa I requested the following on the Marriage look ups on Genforum: Mona, If you will please, can you look for a marraige between Stephen Gallion and Almenta (or Alminta). the marriage could have been 1849 or 1850 and could be Henry Cnty, Iowa. Stephen was born in KY (1826) and I found him with first wife in 1850 Iowa, Henry Cnty census. They had a 6 month old son and a 54 year old Elizabeth Jones in the home. Have no information on Alminta. With all your research, wondered if you had ever seen this one. Is there another branch of Gallions with one 'L' or is this just an error?? My Stephen is spelled Gallion (it was all the time he was in Missouri after 1854, anyway) yet in the Henry cnty Iowa census it is spelled Galyon - which could be a mistake of the person doing the census = or perhaps Stephen changed the spelling and I have been looking for his parents under incorrect spelling. Would appreciate whatever light you may be able to shed on this. Iris Notify Administrator about this message?
