Hello Jane...

Daniel G.(Gilbert) Galyon is found in the 1850 Indiana (Bartholomew Co., Haw Crk. Twp., Dist. 3) household of Allen and Rebecca Gallion along with Thomas H. (4 yrs.), and Andrew J. (1 yr.). We find Daniel G. next in the 1860 Cass Co., Ind. household of Jacob and Rebecca (Gallion) Wolf. Nothing after that in my records.

It is difficult to guess who Allen P. Gallion was. In the 1850 Ind. census he lists his bp as Ohio. I doubt that. My best guess has been that Allen P. is a son to Mitchell M. and Levicy Talbot Gallion. Mitchell M. was born in Harford Co. ca. 1780 to Samuel and Sarah Mitchell Gallion who were in the famous 1776 Harford Co., MD census in which several Gallion households were prominent. Mitchell M. died in TN. ca. 1853 and he left a will naming all of his children, one of whom was Allen. Allen is very mysterious because he doesn't show up in any other document. And he was definitely alive in 1853 because he was bequeathed a very small sum of money. Mitchell M. first married ca. 1802 to Levicy Talbot and he had several other wives later on. It's possible that Mitchell became estranged from the children of his 1st wife due to the "needs" of the subsequent wives and their progeny. Got any better guess?
