Thomas (Sexton) Gallion was born ca 1794 in Grayson Co., VA. He died on April 8, 1871. After killing a man over a dispute about bee hives, he joined a wagon train heading for Ohio. By the time the train got to Carter Co., KY, he had changed his name to Gallion. His parents were Bartlett Sexton and Catherine Gallion/Galyean. He married Ruth Watson July 1, 1820. They had 10 children: James, b. ca 1821 and listed as "deaf and dumb" in the 1850 census; Jonathon, b. October 5, 1822 and died October 8, 1877; Hiram, b. February 14, 1827 and died November 2, 1890; Lewis b. December 1827; Mary b. ca 1836; Alfred b October 8, 1841; Elias b. 1845, John b. 1847; Nancy b. 1849; and Elisa, b. 1852.
Hiram married Mary Elizabeth Sutton and had seven children: Larkin, b. ca 1849, William H., b. Nov. 15, 1920, Catherine, b. 1858; John b. August 19, 1861; Thomas, b. ca1864; Norton, b. ca1866; and, Robert, b. ca1867.
Larkin married Rebecca Stamper about 1872. They had eight children: Leander, b. 1873; Olly Elizabeth, b. 1875; Charles E., b. 1878; Cornelias, b. ca 1880; Dellia/Della, b. ca 1884; Myrtle (my grandmother) b. April 18, 1886;Ella; and Farris.
Larkin died in the Kentucky Eastern State Mental Hospital on September 21, 1926, of pneumonia. His diagnosis was senile psychosis.
