I noticed this query on the Hancock Co.,
Illinois GenWeb page:

Billye D. Jackson Mon Mar 24 07:53:06 1997:
(email: coffey@viptx.net)
"Asa GALLIMORE has a military land grant here, 6 Nov 1818. There is also a James GALLIMORE, possible brother, who was
given one the same day and county, Hancock. Asa was born about 1779, married about 1803, and has a daughter Elizabeth who was
born in Buncombe Co., NC, on 5 Aug 1804. She married there,18 Nov 1824, to Eldad Reed, 3rd. Asa Gallimore has land records in
Buncombe Co., NC. If anyone is working on this family of GALLIMORE's, please contact me if you have any information. Billye D.
Jackson, 3004 Coffey St., Victoria, TX 77901-7427. Kindest regards, and thanks."

Eldad and Elizabeth (Gallimore) Reed had a son name Asa... perhaps named after his grandfather?

By the way, I am a the g-g-g grandson of John Alexander Reed (born 1833) s/o Eldad Reed and Elizabeth Gallimore. When the Reeds travelled to Missouri in 1854, they camped overnight on the farm of Daniel Britton in Greene Co., Tennesee. Two years later, John A. Reed returned from Missouri to marry Britton's daughter Altamira. The Reeds have been in Greene County ever since. My dad is from there, and my grandparents still live there.
