Dear Evelyn Rowland and Susan White,
Thank you for posting this information on the Gallemore orphans. The death of their parents in VA does explain why the name turns up in SC. I am trying to link my John Gallemore, who settled in Twiggs County GA as early as 1818, probably emigrating from NC. John is well documented and prosperous in Twiggs County. His son John emigrated to Texas in 1856 and I am descended through that line. In searching for Gallemore in the DAR Library in DC, I also found the three Gallemores listed in the Revolutionary War Records in NC and very much would like to connect to one of these. Work in the DAR Library did not provide any links, unfortunately. Do you have any lists of children of the Rev War Gallemores? My John Gallemore of GA might be a son or a grandson. Or any other information that would help me? Is Gallemore a Scots-Irish name do you think? I am reading "The Scotch-Irish" by James Leyburn which explains culture and migration! Thank you! -- Best, Martha
