Thomas McLane came to Milo Township, Bureau County Illinois in 1854-5. He brought with him his wife, Minerva Gallentine, and several children from Fayette County Pennsylvania. The family, ultimately, consisted of 12 children. Thomas was a very successful farmer and died at 89 years in Iowa. He is buried at Mound Cemetery, Boyds Grove Methodist Church near the town of Bradford in central Illinois next to his brother, John, the minister.
His daughter, Susanne, married Elliot Driver; a veteran of the 3rd Indiana Cavalry who served with John Buford at Gettysburg (prominently portrayed in the movie of the same name). He was captured in W Va six days later and spent the rest of the war at Andersonville Ė also as in the movie.
Susanne had eight kids, to include my great grandmother, Minerva.
Minerva had four kids, one being my grandfather Forrest Edson Lutes, Sr.
Forrest had eight children with his first wife, Grace Babington (Babington/ Mary Queen of Scots conspiracy) with my father, Forrest Edson Lutes, Jr. being the first born in 1923.
I was born in 1955 in Peoria, Il. and grew up in Henry, about 10 miles from where Thomasí farm was located. Houses are, of course, gone, but I have some pictures (where Iím not quite sure!) of where it was.
I have spent 23 out of the last 25 years in Germany and live near Heidelberg, where I work for the Army. I am married to a German citizen, Hiltrud Anna Brasselman and we have 4 children; Christina (1989) Francisca (1992), and Mathias and Miriam (1995).
You can confirm most of this info by doing a McLane Gallentine search in Google and following the trail on the Franks Family pages.
Good luck, Cousin! Matthew Lutes
