Gallant, 1720's - 1900's, VA > NC > SC > TN.

Oldest ancestor is James (middle name Madison?) Gallant, b. c 1727,
location unknown, d. 1807, age about 80, York Co., SC. He was
living in Frederick Co., VA in 1760's, m. Mary McKemie, her
b. & d. dates unknown. Possible Rev. War vet. Removed to Carolinas
after Revolution. Some of his descendants removed from SC to TN
prior to TN statehood. Was he the same James Gallant who was
b. in 1724 in England and m. Hannah Guilvance? Or was he
descended from the Gallants in 17th century Maryland and northern neck VA?

Related families are:

Hankins, Thompson, Spears, Broom(e), Grant/Treffenstatt, Sellers,
Perry.
