Try looking up Gallant names in the phone book - www.canada411.com - using Halfax and Ketch Harbour, Nova Scotia. The people living nearest to your ancestors would have phone numbers starting with 475-, 477-, 479-, or 868-. There are not many, so try calling a few (NS time is ONE HOUR LATER than US Eastern time).

Why not post this same message on the NS site - www.nsonline.com/forums/forum1.cgi - they have lots of good Q's and A's. I think there are already postings about GALLANT families there which you might want to read.
