Unusual for a Gallant to be in Ma. this early. Could be English or I've even heard of a Russian Jew named Gallant. The bulk of the Gallants in New England and the rest of the States and Canada now are desendants of Michel Hache dit Gallant who was born abt. 1662 in Quebec and died in 1737 near Rock Point, PEI Canada. Why it is odd for a Canadian Gallant to be in Ma. this early is that they didn't start imigrating South until the industrial revolution began in the mid-1800's.
