Hello Sharen! I am an Acadian(100%) and as Bonnie Pond( whom I've been in touch with before) says ; ACADIANS have been deported to many parts of the Atlantic coast;the British tried very hard to end it with us.. WE are of french descent(high %) and there were times of war... My ancestors were very docile people and only wanted to live in peace; but the crown wanted them to deny there mother country(fight against them) and become british subject;which forced these habitants to become ''NUTURALS''.and that led them to doom!!!!.I have sent you links which you could look into (hope you received them correctly) #1.Acadian and Cajun genealogy and History:Acadian & french ... at http://acadian-home.org(a whole lot of info) #2 You can try the LDS_ Family Search #3 Roots Web #4 or simply go to Cyndi's List of genealogical sites.. In #1 ,if you succeed , scroll down to EXILED_ ENGLAND (Bristol,Falmouth,Liverpool) they even have list of names of a great many acadians who ended up in Eng. I don't know about British Archives, but seems that if your Mary Ann Gallant married in 1830, there must be somewhere you can get her marriage location to see if her parents show in the registration..or whatever you people have there..Try this site ,but for England? In Family search ,there are abot 8 or 10 Mary Ann Gallant in England for the 1800's Unbeleivably ,I was able to trace all my ancesters back to Europe,ex. a Fraser & Jordan ,only two names that are not french... I am fluantly bilingual(forceably because of all this history.) But would gladly help if I can ;I have two volumes of Haché-Gallant(which is of same surname origine).I have Gallants in my lineage many many times over. On Roots Web,I've seen Seakens,Seekens & Seekings; so don't be afraid to look at different spellings. GOOD LUCK, Isabelle Notify Administrator about this message?
