I have a Rebecca GALLAHER (daughter of George Burum GALLAHER and Nancy GRUM) born July 8, 1788 in Knox Co. TN, died unk. married (1) John JONES on April 16, 1811 in Knox Co. TN, married (2) Samuel TAYLOR. Known children of Rebecca GALLAHER and John JONES: 1. John JONES born Oct. 29, 1813 in Anderson Co. TN, died May 27, 1889, married (1) Mathilda HOLT, married (2) Orpah Hansard BONHAM. 2. Nancy JONES born 1814.
Rebecca GALLAHER's first husband, John JONES was one of the witnesses to the Will of her father, George Burum GALLAHER, Sr. Rebecca's second husband, Samuel TAYLOR and her probably had children but their names are unknown. Rebecca GALLAHER TAYLOR is listed in the 1850 Coffee County, TN Census, age 62.
John JONES, son of Capt. John JONES and Rebecca GALLAHER JONES, was first married to Mathilda HOLT. When she died he married Orpah Hansard BONHAM. He farmed most of his life and served for many years as the Capt. (like his father) of the militia. He was a man of great integrity and had gained the confidence and esteem of all who knew him.
