HI Deane,
Are you sure that Cornelius didn't have a brother named John too? As far as I can tell, it seems that there was a brother John to Cornelius and that possibly the brother John and John Murray were the first two to start the business in sand mining. Also, there seems to be some disputing stories regarding the beating in DelMonicos. I asked my father-in-law about it and he completely denied that something like that happened. I wouldn't doubt though if the stories were changed based on the family involved. I have heard that John and Joseph were closer and then Francis and Peter were closer. Also, if you are reading any of my older posts, please disregard. I was a bit messed up with my dates and names back a few years ago. I have since though found census records for many of the Gallaghers. We have a copy of the Sands Point book that lists Peter and John as well as makes reference to the originals that purchased land in the area. I will have to get out my information sometime and go through it all again. I have been having computer problems and am just hoping that my entire gen. file doesn't crash before I can get it copied :(.
