Hello,
My ancestors were Gallaghers from Ballycroy too.My grandfather told me that the first Gallagher to arrive in Ballycroy was Neil Gasta Gallagher who came on the run from Donegal around 1654 - the time of Cromwell. He married an O'Donnell woman whose father had come from Donegal and had settled in Newport.According to my grandfather, all Ballycroy Gallaghers were descended from Neil Gasta Gallagher and his O'Donnell wife.Apart from Neil Gasta, the oldest relative I know about is Peter Gallagher who was born around 1840 in Ballycroy and married Bridget Sweeney born around 1838 in Ballycroy too.Their daughter, Catherine, left Ballycroy in 1905 aged 24 to travel to Wilkes Barre, PA via Ellis Island.Catherine married an O'Donnell man from Donegal.I think they always lived in Wilkes Barre. There were other Gallaghers from the same family living in PA, but I don't know about Wisconsin.
