Hope there is a connection here. My great great grandmother was Mary Gallagher, daughter of John and of Bridget Canavan.Mary was born in May 1838 in Ireland (place unknown) and married, probably in England to Joseph Binns.Their first child was born in W. Hartlepool, Durham, the next in Blackburn, Lancastershire, the rest in Yorkshire, near Keighley, including my great grandmother, Isabella Binns (in 1863).Mary (Gallagher) Binns apparently a widow was living in Keighley in the census of 1871 with 5 daughters, and again in Keighley in 1881 with 4 daughters listed. My ggm married in 1882 to Thomas Kennedy and they remained in Keighley almost entirely until 1896, when they emigrated to the USA (Mary Binns and at least two of her other daughters emigrated to the USA in the early 1880s).
Of note, in the 1891 census for Keighley, I found my great grandparents Thomas and Isabella (Binns) Kennedy on King St. next to Thomas and Catherine Gallagher, the latter with a daughter named Bridget.I've long suspected that this Thomas Gallagher might have been the uncle or other relative of my great grandmother Isabella Binns, i.e. possibly the brother of her mother Mary (Gallagher) Binns.
Can you tell me if your Thomas Gallagher was the son of or related to a John Gallagher and Bridget Canavan? Did they by chance immigrate to England too? This would certainly help my research, although I'm afraid I can't provide you with much other than the descendancy of Mary (Gallagher) Binns.
