Unless your lineage was/is nobility or landowners pre 1700,it will be next to impossible to trace back line to 14th century. Eastern Europe stayed feudal for much longer than Western Europe. For Eastern Ukraine (Zhytomyrwas regional capital of the Old Vohlynian gubernia/region) metrykal recordkeeping for the commonperson was initiated in 1722 by Tsar Peter the Great. In Western Ukraine it was initiated by the Hapsburg Emperors in the late 18th century, after the Kingdom of Poland was partitioned into non-geopolitical existence.

I am multilingual and that facilitates research.I think I found it in one of the Russian surname origin sites? Idon't remember now, but you could look for it yourself. In Advance Google Search set up Ukrainian and Russian as additional languages and submit the surname using Cyrillic Alphabet. Some of these sitesprovide instant English translation.
