Jon: I have two references to your Samuel through members of our Clan Galbraith and this is their pedigree; but cannot give you sources. At least with the second I checked it through Ancestry.com. I am most interested in finding the parent to Samuel. His children were supposed to have been born in NC. But I have not identified Samuel in the Census. I am guessing he comes from Rowen County (Thomas etc of the 1760s onward)
Samuel GALBRAITH (NC?, 1796? m. Sarah Davies); Joseph M. (Rutherford NC, 1820; m. Elizabeth C Coleman); George Washington Hays (NC, 1852; m.Mary Tranquilla Weaver); Ida Pearl (TX, 1886; m. Herman CORNEHL); Catherine Pearl (WA, m. Thomas HYSLOP)
Samuel GALBRAITH (NC?, 1796? m. Sarah Davies); Margaret (NC, c1832; m. John A BECK in 1853); Roxana (NC, 1863; m. Thomas CARTER); Jesse (GA, 1883; m. Sarah Elizabeth Butler)
