Yes, my mother's family were Galan's. It is a long story. My mother was Argentina Galan. My grandfather was Felix Galan, who was born in Coahuila, Cuatro Cienegas, Mexico in 1890. His father was Apolonio Galan. It is said that they were descended from the historically well-known Joaquin Galan and his family, which received a Spanish land grant in 1767 for about 330,000 acres of land in present-day Texas. This land was eventually lost to Americans after the US/Mexican war. Another Galan descendant from San Antonio, Texas has researched the family for years. She claims that the Galan's of Texas had actually come from Jerusalem centuries ago to Spain.
