Yes, Cassandra was born in Montgomery Co., MD, but after the death of her father Edward in 1777, the family of Edward moved to the Rowan and Iredell Co., NC area. Cassandra was married to James REID in Rowan County, NC in 1782. (see note 51).

Edward's son Johnsey returned to Montgomery Co., MD where he died, which is why I said it is possible that Cassandra could also have returned with her husband James REID. As James REID and Cassandra GAITHER married in NC, it is possible that he is from the REID families there, which as far as I know have no connection with Montgomery Co., MD REIDs.
