This message is for Eva Gaither Thornberry. I am trying to locate information about several individuals named George Riggs Gaither. You say here that one of them ran for Governor of Md. at some time. Would that have been the one born in 1858, died in 1921? The two I am most interested in are the father of the one born in 1858. He was born in Baltimore in January of 1831. His father was also George Riggs Gaither and was born in 1795 in Montgomery County, Md. I would appreciate your giving me an e-mail address so that I can explore bibliographical and records sources that would lead me to more information about these two men. One of them was a contributor to Russell's Magazine, a periodical published in Charleston, S. C., from 1857 to 1860. From the content of the contributions I gather that the author was well educated (and able to translate French essays into English). I am writing a book on Russell's Magazine and would like to include accurate information on the George Gaither who contributed those articles. Many Thanks.
