My grandfather was known as George W. Gaither and we believe he was born in Minnesota in the late 1800"s. We know he ran away from home when he was very young and went to Oklahoma where he went to work for a man by the name of Gaither. We are not sure if Grandpa lied about his name or if he just happened to meet another Gaither. Grandpa used to tell about his father being a missionary and that Jesse James would hide out in the mission. 'course Grandpa used to say a lot of things. We have all tried to unravel the family mystery but we never quite make it. Any help you find on the Gaithers moving to Oklahoma would be appreciated. George Gaither married Nettie Martin in Oregon in the early 1900's, they had four children before she divorced him in 1919. The children all wound up in California to raise families of their own. Please let me know if any of this helps. Bye for now
