Looking for any information on Thomas J Gainey or Stephen Gainey listed 1850 Covington Co., Alabama. Thomas Gainey is also listed 1840 Covington Co Alabama Census. In 1860
Thomas is listed as Thomas G Garney, born 1813 SC, in Covington County, Rose Hill area. Thomas has a daughter listed as Mary A Garney, age 6 in this 1860 census. This is Mary Amanda Gainey/Ganey who married J W Sowell (John Wesley Sowell) 11-26-1869 Crenshaw County Alabama. John Wesley Sowell and Mary Amanda Gainey/Ganey are my great
grandparents and I have them on the census from 1860 thru 1930. John Wesley Sowell died 6-2-1928 and Mary Amanda Gainey/Ganey died December 1932. Both are buried River Falls Covington Co., Alabama.

Mary Amanda Gainey/Ganey's parents nor her siblings have been found on 1870 census. On the 1880 Crenshaw Co Alabama,
Mount Ida area, there is a WT Gainey age 40,and wife Martha age 37. Also listed with him is his mother Francis age 60, who is a widow, and a nephew William Y Gainey. I believe this to be Mary Amanda Gainey/Ganey's brother WT Gainey and her mother Francis. Mary Amanda also had another brother, Daniel H Gainey/Ganey and he is listed 2 doors down from her and John Wesley Sowell in 1880 Covington Co. Rose Hill area. Daniel's wife is listed as Elephare age 40, and his stepchildren are also listed with same last name of Merril. I beleive this to be Elefare Parris born,12-13-1840. Elefare
must of been a widow at the time of their marriage and she is about 15 years older. Daniel H Ganey, 1900 Crenshaw Alabama, Dozier area, is listed as a widower. According to some family trees that I have found online, Elefare Parrish Merril died 12-17-1904 Crenshaw Co. If she died 1904 then why would Daniel Ganey be listed as a widower 1900? Daniel
Gainey/Ganey remarried S Ada unk. and they are found 1910 Butler Co., 1920 Covington Co. and 1930 Montgomery Census.
Daniel Gainey/Ganey died 2-16-1931.

According to 1860 Covington Co Alabama Census, Mary Amanda
Gainey had 2 other brother's, Stephen J W, born 1848 and
Andrew, born 1853. There was a Andrew J Ganey who married Elizabeth Goodson 3-18-1869 Crenshaw Co. but I'm not sure if this is her brother or not. I have not found anything else on her other brother Stephen J W Gainey/Ganey. Makes me wonder if the nephew, William Y Gainey born 1871, who is listed with W T Gainey in 1880 Crenshaw is the son of Stephen J W Gainey.

Can anyone out there point me in the right direction?
Thank You
Sharman
