Hello....looking for info on Gainers in Ireland?

I don't have a lot to go on here aside from what my father has told me. I am going to Ireland for my honeymoon in March, and as I'm led to believe that Gainer is Irish in origin, I'd like to know what county or counties the Gainer surname originates, if possible. From what I've seen just perusing very general websites, Gainer is from County Longford originally. My father says that our ancesters were two brothers who emigrated around 1783 to the colonies, and one went north, the others south. Names? No, he doesn't know. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone? Sorry about the extremely vague information.
