COUSHATTA, LA - Services for Dewey Floyd Gahagan, 75 of Hall Summit, LA will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2009 at Social Springs Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Jack Bell of Social Springs Baptist Church and Rev. Bill Hines. Interment will follow at Social Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Rose-Neath's Coushatta Chapel.
Mr. Gahagan was born March 16, 1934 in Fairview Alpha, LA to the parents of Dewey and Lessie Gahagan and passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 after a short illness. Mr. Gahagan was a lifelong resident of Hall Summit and a member of the Social Springs Baptist Church where he enjoyed fellowship with his friends and family and was a member of the choir. Mr. Gahagan was an electrician and general contractor and never met a stranger. He was a kind and giving man who loved his family very much.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, Lessie and Dewey Gahagan; his twin brother, Lloyd Gahagan and his sister, Polly Smith.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 53 years, Ruth Gahagan of Hall Summit, LA; Son, John Gahagan of Chandler, TX; daughters, Tammy Rowell of Coushatta, LA and Peggy Wallace and her husband, Randy of Hallsville, TX; sister, Myrtis Cockerham and her husband George of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren; Chad Woodall and his wife, Charity and Brandi Mangham and her husband, Ray all of Castor, LA and Dakota and Kendall Wallace of Hallsville, TX; great grandchildren, Madison, Marissa and Chase Woodall and Wayne and Caleb Mangham, all of Castor, LA. and a host of nieces, nephews and many many dear friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Malcolm Batchelor, Jasper Norred, Brad Fairchild, Jerry Jordan, Clayton Warren and Bobby Ray Gahagan. Honorary pallbearers will be George Cockerham, Chad Woodall, Dakota Wallace, Michael Waters, George Woodall, Ray Mangham, Michael Waters and George Woodall.
