I am looking for information on the parents of Pierre Gagnon who married Philomene Lamarche at St Peter's, Plattsburgh, NY on 1859-08-17.
US Census data on the family used the names Gagnaw, Gonyo, and Gonyea. Family and civil records for later descendants used the name Gonyon which would be the English spelling of the French pronunciation.
St Joseph's Church in Burlington, VT baptized the descendants as Gagnon as late as 1935 despite the City Clerk registering the name as Gonyon.
