Fulda Free Press 1/23/1935 "After a year's illness, Mrs. Geo. F. Gage of Olivia died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Woodard Colby, in St. Paul, on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Gage suffered from a severe case of arthritis, with which she has been bothered the last three years or more. Recently complications set in which confined her to bed. Relatives here had not realized her condition was so serious, and were greatly shocked at the message of her death. Mrs. Gage was born in Cannon Falls in 1876, and there she spent her early years and received her education. While teaching in Olivia she met George Gage, son of Mr. and Mrs. West Gage of Fulda, then a young attorney just beginning his law practice, and the couple were married. Olivia has been the family home until recently when Mr. Gage became state tax commissioner and the family moved to St. Paul. Mrs. Gage was active in church and civic affairs, and was a member of the school board at Olivia for several years. She was chairman of the Olivia branch of the Minnesota League of Voters and for several years was Worthy Matron of the Star lodge at Olivia. She is survived by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Colby, of St. Paul. One daughter, Lucile, died at the age of 16. Funeral services were conducted in Olivia Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Gage and Mrs. Lillian attempted to drive over for the funeral but were unable to get there because of the cold and blocked roads."
