I'm interest in the Gage family because of the Hudspeth connection. Your posting of May 2001, gave a lot of information and you've obviously done a lot of work, but I have a problem with 1 or 2 things.I'm trying to figure out who the parents were of Francis Marion Gage that married Dora Hudspeth.Several postings have have him as the son fo Tilford Denton Gage, who was son of James Elbert Gage.On your posting you have Francis Marion as the son of Tilford & his second wife Arlene, having been born abt 1904. I believe this is incorrect.Francis Marion & Doraare listed in the 1900 Carroll Co., ARK, Priairie township census. It shows Marion b. 1868, and Dora b. Oct. 1870.She was the daughter of Amos Warren Hudspeth & Rebecca Hudson Hawkins, per Amos's obituary and the Hudspeth researchers. Obit & 1910 census list her as Nora A., while 1900 & 1920 have Dora. They are listed in both the 1910 & 1920 Carroll Co., ARK census.Per the 1910 census, Francis Marion & Dora were m. about 1888.
What is the basis for having Francis Marion as the son of Tilford?Tilford and his wife Martha were listed in the 1880 Arkansas census, but there was no Francis Marion listed as a son. There was a 12 yr. old Warren, and I thought perhaps they just had the name wrong, and this was Marion. Another reason for thinking Francis Marion might be the son of Tilford and the same person as the 12 yr. old Warren, was that in 1900 he was listed next to a Thomas B. Gage, that fit the age of Tilford's son, and 1910, he's listed next to a Charles E., that fits the age of the Elbert listed as Tilford's son in 1880.Is there some other information that confirms the relationship?
Any information is appreciated.Thanks.
