Hi David,
My Mother-in-law was a Gafford, so I do have some info about the Gafford family... If you look at a posting by a Jean Wright dated Nov. 23, 2007, it will help you out alot. There's alot of information about the Gafford's on that site.
Your Gafford is Tom Sid Gafford Sr.(number 165 in the Gafford book) born 1894-1980.
Tom Sid Gafford Sr.'s father is John Robert (Bob) Gafford Born 1870-1932, (number 87 In the Gafford book).
John Robert (Bob) Gafford's father was Thomas Mayfield Gafford (number 33 in the Gafford book) Born 1849-1927.
Thomas Mayfield Gafford's father was Thomas Jesse Gafford (number 11 in the Gafford book) Born 1812-1882.
Thomas Jesse Gafford's father was William Robert Gafford (number 6 in the Gafford book) Born 1786-1860.
William Robert Gafford's father was John Gafford (number 2 in the Gafford book). Born 1745- died 1808
John Gafford's father was Thomas Gafford (number 1 in the Gafford book). Born 1720-1800's sometime
***Note *****
William Robert Gafford B. 1786-1860, father of Your Thomas Jesse Gafford B. 1812-1882 and father of a John Willis Gafford B.1819-1860's were brother's. (John willis Gaffordwas also my Husband's Gr. Gr. Grandfather.) There were 13 brother's and sister's in all in the family of William Robert Gafford.
John Willis Gafford would of been a Great Great Uncle to your Great-Grandfather John Robert "Bob" Gafford B. 1870-1932,a Great, Great, Great Uncle to your Grandfather Tom Sid Gafford Sr. B. 1894- 1980, and a Great, Great, Great, Great Uncle to your father Tom Sid Gafford Jr. B. 1921- 1980.
I gues that would mean John Willis Gafford is your Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Uncle, and your my husband's 6th cousin.....:):)
I hope this helps.......... Sara Candler
