I am working on a massive WALK family tree. The CLODFELTER family plays a large rool in it. The CLODFELTER family of Edwards County, Illinois married into the GAEDE family in four different ways.
1. Mary C. CLODFELTER was the daughter of Jesse CLODFELTER (1804-1870) and his third wife, Anna Rosina FISHEL (1817-1881) who married in 1845 at Davidson County, North Carolina and shortly after moved to Edwards County, Illinois. Mary C. CLODFELTER was born in Edwards County in 1849 and married Henry GAEDE (b. 1845 in Prussia) on 09 Nov 1871 (at Edwards County?). In 1880 the parents and two children, William GAEDE (b. Jun 1875) and Anna Rosanna GAEDE (b. 05 Jan 1878). I don't know when Mary and Henry GAEDE died or where.
2. Amos Augusta CLODFELTER (1881-1947) was the eldest child of Lewis Edwin CLODFELTER (1851-1938) who married Anna Sophia YONAKA (1862-1957) in 1880 at Richland County (next door to Edwards County) Illinois in 1880. Amos married Lydia Matilda GAEDE (1885-1966) on 01 May 1907. Who was Lydia the daughter of?
3. Jonas A. CLODFELTER (born May 1853 in Edwards County, Illinois) married Mary GAEDE (b. Aug 1858 in Illinois) on 16 Apr 1874 at Edwards County, Illinois. They had four known sons, IRA A, OTTO, GIDEON and HARVEY CLODFELTER. Jonas was the son of Jesse CLODFELTER (see 1. above). In 1920 and 1930 the widower Jonas was living at Santa Barbara County, California, as was his son IRA. Nothing else is known. Who was Mary GAEDE CLODFELTER the daughter of?
4. Louisa R. CLODFELTER (b. May 1856 in Edwards County, Illinois, the daughter of Jesse CLODFELTER (see 1. above)) married John Henry (went by Henry?) GAEDE who ws born Mar 1851 in Prussia. They married on 08 Oct 1874 (where?). In 1900 the parents and three of their children were living at West Salem, Edwards County, Illinois. Their children included:
4-1. Otto GAEDE (1875-1956) who married Emma KOERTGE
4-2. Herman GAEDE (1877-???)
4-3. Dora L. GAEDE (1878-1959) who married Gustav E. KOERTGE in 1899
4-4 victor GAEDE (1882-???)
4-5 Albert GAEDE (1887-???)
Where and when did Louisa and Henry die? Where are they buried? Who was Henry the son of?
5. A Henry GAEDE (06 Mar 1853 - 01 Dec 1924) and his wife Marie (11 Jul 1860-01 Jan 1931) are buried at the Macedonia Cemetery, West Salem, Edwards County, Illinois. Are they related to any of the above four families?
Are all the above GAEDE families related to each other? As can be seen three of Jesse CLODFELTER's children married GAEDE's. Dan_Stevenson@sparta.com
