Any information to solve the following mystery would be greatly appreciated. Parents: Johan Gaede & Elizabeth Friesen.
Children: 1. Heinrich J. Gaede b. 6-27-1861, in Marienwohl So. Russia. He was one of 5 children. 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Heinrich was about 8 years old when his father and mother both passed away in the same year. At the graveside of his father the children were passed out to family and friends. Heinrich was taken by the Schmidts family and was brought to America a few years later. We do know that one brother and sister also came to America later. We do not have the names of his siblings and are searching frantically.
Heinrich later married Maria Epp in Kansas. Heinrich grew up to be a minister in the Mennonite Church and help to establish the 1st Mennonite Church near Medford, OK.
The first Gaede we are aware of is John Gade, who it is believed was born near Thorn, West Prussia in 1786. He was Mennonite.
