Patricia,
Just this evening I happened upon one Alonzo Gaddy, 1st Lieut in the "Gibralter Guards," a pre-Civil War Kentucky volunteer militia/State Guard company (Capt. George Holbrook, commanding) in Lusby's Mill, Owen county, Ky, c1860.
This would be too early for the Alonzo in your post, but could lead to a kinsman. (Otherwise, I'd be interested in knowing who this Alonzo Gaddy was, and how he "ties in.")
