Hello Mr Gaddy
I had contacted you some time ago about my ancestors Thomas M Abel and his wife Lucinda Ray Abel. I know they were found in the 1900 Fayette Co Al census and I know you had fund a death certificate that showed a Thomas M Abel died in 1918 in Walker co Al. I had asked you if you know when and where his wife Lucinda Ray Abel had died since it must have been after 1900 and before 1918. I still have not found any informatiopn abut when and where she died. I did find something very interesting though. I could not find Thomas M Abel in the 1910 census. A researcher emailed me and said they had found a Thomas M Abel in the 1910 Choctaw co OK census living with the Rone or Roan family as a servant. He was listed in his late sixties instead of his mid seventies so I am not sure it is the same Thomas M Abel except that on the census his father is listed as being born in SC which he was(John B Able) and his mother as being born in Tenn which she was. Alsomy grandfather was Eric Smith born 1896 in Monroe co Ms and he was the son of Loyd Smith and Sarah Elizabeth Able who was the daughter of Thomas and Lucinda. this is what is very interesting. My grandfather went to Choctaw co OK(Soper OK just west of Hugo OK) in about 1919. My father was born in 1925 in Hugo Ok. Why would Thomas M Abel go to Choctaw co OK? Also I don't know why my grandfather went to Choctaw Co OK. I think there may be a connection here. Have you ever heard that the Abels or the Rays were indian? I know I had an indian ancestor and I think it might have been Lucinda Ray but I am not sure. Would you know. Thank you, Ross
