Cousin Reed: Colonial Williamsburg has published a little pamphlet about the Geddy family. (You probably know the Geddy house there has been restored--they were a family of gun, gold, and silver smiths.) Thos. Jefferson and several buddies received headrights--land--for bringing them over, some time after first Gaddey/Gaddy refs. In vrestry book of Blis(s)land Parish, New Kent County, VA, a Gaddy and a Geddy are mentioned on the same page--and distinguished from each other. Hope this helps. It's recounted in Bill and Corrine Gaddy's (fairly) new book.
