Thomas Gacquin from Derreen or Mucklon???
William Gacquin's 'part 2' post says that land transfered in Derreen in 1875 from Thomas Gacquin to Patrick McCormack
(wife of Mary Gacquin McCormack).Patrick & Mary are my grgrgrandparents. I am assuming that because the land transfered to his son in law, Thomas had no sons??I found Thomas 1874 death cert, but it says he died in Muckloon (not Derreen??) and that John Gacquin was present at death. Why would he be in Muckloon and not Derreen--where he lived and had land. And who is John?A nephew or a brother? If he had a son, why would the land go to his daughter? There was a John Gacquin in Muckloon who also had land--was he living with John in his old age?Was it customary to leave land to a daughter/son in law even if he had a son? Does anyone have any information on the Gacquins in Muckloon?
Thank you
