Hello Radha, my mothers last name is also Gabriel from Dominican Republic. From what I know the family history is also very blurry. According to my mother her grandfather migrated from St. Thomas, and was of Danish descent. He married my great grandmother who was dominican, from the southern part of the country. I have been trying to dig deep into my familys past for YEARS! ha! but just like you the answers I get are extremely limited. I aslo know that they celebrated sabbath, and that they lived in the capital Santo Domingo. Isn't it funny how some people from those times have such little information on their family? With my family it's like they don't even care, and no one knows nothing, very strange...anyways, I hope that you receive this message because just like you I am interested in finding out more info, we might even be related..who knows. Take care and if you get this feel free to reply to my email.
